This is an assigment in the classroom aimed at synthesizing knowledge about UI/UX before starting the graduation project. The topic requires designing a dating app, and the team has chosen to design an anonymous dating app for introverted individuals with a rather novel approach for a dating app nowadays.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

As the world changes, so does the way we date. Anonymous dating apps are a new twist in this evolution. In today's fast-paced society, where privacy is valued, these apps prioritize keeping personal info secure. They create a safe space for sharing feelings without the pressure of traditional dating. Imagine a place where connections are authentic, and you can be yourself without judgment. Anonymous dating apps bring that vision to life, offering a discreet avenue for meaningful connections. It's a fresh approach to relationships, aligning with the changing tides of our dynamic world.

HEAD OF DESIGN

I oversaw design processes, defining priorities and project scopes, and managed project deliverables. My role involved close collaboration with the engineering team and other members of the Blun team to bring experiences to life, from conceptualization to implementation.

While I provided guidance on everything featured in this portfolio, a substantial part was informed by user research conducted by the Blun team. Additionally, some concepts were inspired by earlier wireframes and iterations, drawing insights from platforms like Tinder, Bumble, and Slowly. This amalgamation of instructional design, user research, and insights from established platforms contributed to the creation of engaging and user-centric experiences.

We are proud to introduce Blun App - a place for anonymous connections with a unique and impressive touch. Our icon is a heart, symbolizing love and connection. Inspired by the familiar Vietnamese term 'bờ lun,' we bring a safe and warm space for introverted individuals.

The color purple, representing healing and tranquility, establishes a sense of security, while hues of pink, yellow, orange, and green, vibrant like colorful balloons, create an atmosphere of joy and excitement. We believe that Blun App is not just a dating space but also a place to explore and enjoy genuine connections, a space where you can be yourself without the need for concealment

As part of the login process before accessing the app, I would like to ask users a few questions to better understand their preferences and expectations for their app experience. The purpose of these questions is to tailor the app to your needs and provide a more personalized user experience.

We'll ask about user's hobbies, introduce user and user primary goals with the app.

Additionally, when creating an avatar, we propose using avatars with colorful balloons, allowing users the freedom to choose colors and create a personalized image according to their preferences. This not only enhances personalization but also fosters a creative space where users can express their uniqueness and individual style.

For this anonymous dating app, when users meet, it'll show through personal statuses displayed as floating bubbles in the phone screen frame. Users need to post a status, and it will pop up like bubbles in the sky (on the phone screen). If both users like each other's status, they will be a match.

To join the meeting experience, users need to post a personal status. This increases the chance of finding suitable matches.

Status Bubbles Display:

User statuses will be shown as floating bubbles, creating a fun experience and reflecting connections.

Matching Connection:

If both users like each other's status, the system will notify a 'match' and create an opportunity for them to seize a chance to meet.

We hope this feature brings interesting experiences and increases opportunities for users to find meaningful relationships in our app.

In addition, we're also experimenting with adding more topics for everyone to enjoy, such as music, movies, and references from Reddit's app. Posts with high engagement will be featured in the 'Hot' section, showcasing popular content. The 'New' section will include the latest posts, incorporating both categories.

With the chat screen frame, we use icons that consist of avatars represented by bubble symbols. As an anonymous app, we want users to focus on the conversation rather than external appearances.

The use of bubble avatars helps maintain a level of anonymity while ensuring a visually engaging and user-friendly chat interface. This design choice encourages users to prioritize the conversation experience over external aesthetics. We believe this approach enhances the overall user engagement and fosters a more meaningful connection within the app.

CONCLUSION & TAKEAWAYS

I had a wonderful experience with Blun. As the instructor, I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge, ranging from working within constraints to understanding product and design strategy. I learned effective ways to collaborate and negotiate with various stakeholders.

Moreover, during our sessions, we engaged in conversations about personal relationships, family dynamics, and friendships. We shared our experiences with dating apps, recalling the enjoyable moments we had with them. These discussions provided valuable insights that we applied in creating Blun.

Overall, our diverse experiences and learnings played a crucial role in shaping Blun into what it is today.
